Fahrradhof Bike Shop in Germany

This is an interactive advertisement method. More than just being a pretty mirage of bicycles stuck to an unassuming wall, people can interact with the wall, as the wall houses German bicycle shop ‘Fahrradhof Altlandsberg’.

Initially, there were only forty bicycles, but over time, they added more bikes to the wall until they accumulated 120 hanging bicycles. According to Horstmann, their clever use of advertising helped the business increase by “about 40%”, despite the German bicycle market going down by 22%.

It all started when 40 trade-in bicycles came into the store one day. Not knowing where to put them all, one of the shop-assistants asked Horstmann what they should do with them. Horstmann reply was simple: “Hang ‘em on the wall”. And hang em’ on the wall they did.

In replace of a traditional sign, owners Peter Horstmann and Christian Peterson have opted for a more unorthodox approach to advertising by sticking 120 bicycles to their storefront.

Pet Horstmann, head of the Fahrradhof bike shop in Altlandsberg, eastern Germany, looks out of his house decorated with 210 old bikes. Inside, the shop offers more than 1,000 new bikes for sale.

A quote by John F Kennedy reading "Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride" is fixed along with 210 old bikes on the facade of the Fahrradhof bike shop in Altlandsberg, eastern Germany.
